Below you will find the updated guidelines from the Department of Health issued today 30th June 2021 as follows:

Other religious ceremonies:         It is advised that religious ceremonies such as Baptisms, First Holy Communions and Confirmations should not take place at this time. Further advice will follow on resumption of these ceremonies when it is safe to do so

In light of these ever-changing circumstances,  it is with great regret, that following a meeting  of the Senate of Priests and having listened to the views of  lay faithful, that I make the decision to defer these sacraments until the Autumn. (Baptisms in the case of emergency are of course always allowed)

I know that children and families will be very disappointed with this news. But in order to safeguard public health, this decision is regrettably necessary. I wish to thank children, parents, teachers and priests for all their efforts in the preparation for these sacraments. I also thank all the volunteers who help in the sanitisation of our church buildings.

Please know that all our churches are open for public worship and celebration of the Eucharist and let us not forget that the Lord is with us each day.
